Shiraraso Grand Hotel was established in November 3, 1929 by Kumagusu Saika. Around 1935, the hotel was often used by the Imperial family and intellectuals. In 1945, when the Second World War ended, the hotel was taken over by the US forces. However, it was released three years later and continued business while undergoing a series of renovations and extensions. In 1963, the management was taken over by Mitsui Kanko Development Co., Ltd. The hotel was reconstructed from a wooden structure to a reinforced concrete structure in 1968, and was entirely-redesigned in 1993. It was a great honor for us to have the Emperor Showa as our guest in 1977, and Prince Akishino in 1999. Our hotel has been used by many intellectuals and celebrities.
